After a long winter, New Brunswickers are shaking off the snow and embracing spring with open arms. Certain communities in the province however are still recovering from the ice storm that rocked the Acadian Peninsula and other regions of eastern New Brunswick in February.
As part of the relief effort, Forest NB made a donation to the Canadian Red Cross to assist communities in need.
“When we discussed how to best acknowledge our guest speakers at our recent annual general meeting we thought that a gesture such as donating to the Red Cross ice storm fund was appropriate. We always provide a little memento of New Brunswick for our out of province guests but the donation is a gesture that all our speakers appreciate regardless if they traveled across the country or across town to attend. We hope it contributes to helping the families that were set back by the storm,” said Forest NB executive director Mike Legere.
The donation aligns with Forest NB’s core values. As the voice of the forests and forestry in New Brunswick, we believe it is our duty to give back to local communities and lend a helping hand when necessary.
