The forest sector employs 22,000 New Brunswickers directly and indirectly. The manufacturing of wood and paper products accounts for more than 30% of total manufacturing output of the province, making forestry the largest manufacturing and exporting sector with the exception of oil and refineries.
New Brunswick’s forest sector is the biggest single-sector contributor to the provincial economy, accounting for 4.7% of the province’s total GDP.
